We welcome our readers to the January–March edition of the Journal of Clinical Sciences (JCSs) in the year 2017. We wish you all a very Happy New Year.
On November 11, 2016, the JCSs became listed on the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJs), a website that lists scientific and scholarly journals that meet high-quality standards and use a funding model that does not charge readers or their institutions for access.[1] The aim of the DOAJ is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals, thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.[1] Local visibility of the JCSs is also very good as a copy of the journal is sent to all the libraries of institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
We thank the academic members of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, the sole sponsors of this Journal for their painstaking effort to ensure that funds are made available for the continuity of the journal in spite of the general economic difficulties facing Nigeria at this time.
This edition is going to make for interesting reading.
It contains eight original articles and two case presentations.
